Description Golden Sands, Bulgaria

Golden Sands Resort is located 25 km from Varna in a national park in Bulgaria - Golden Sands. The coastal strip in Golden Sands - a broad (sometimes up to 100 m) with a golden sandy beach, an exceptional cleanliness, with sand, which owes its name to the resort. There is an ancient legend about the origin of the name "Golden Sands". This legend tells how pirates buried a huge treasure of gold on the coast north of Varna. The land took revenge on the bandits and transformed the gold into fine sand - the purest in the whole Black Sea coast. Golden Sands is the largest resort on the northern Black Sea coast and cover an area of more than 1800 hectares.

It is situated 18 km north-east of Varna, 488 km east from Sofia to the north of the village of Kranevo in the South - with the villa zone "Seagull" and passes in the resort of St. Constantine and Elena. It is dominated Frangenskoe plateau, characterized by its limestone structure, yielding landslides and erosion. This place is known as the region with the most pure and fine sand on the Black Sea. In Turkish times it was called Uzunkum - Long Sands.
