Description Havana, Cuba

Havana - the capital of Cuba and the second largest city in the whole Caribbean region, is the center of Cuban life. Despite the turbulent history of the city, especially during the wars and revolutions, the architectural appearance of Havana has undergone minor changes and, in fact, remained the same as 100 and more years ago. The town is dominated throughout the delightful Spanish colonial architecture, the roads are filled with American cars 50's and 60's, and in the air hover Havana echoes its faded glory.

City of Havana is located on the northwest coast of the island, which is washed by the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Tourism started to develop here since the 1990's, when the country abandoned the planned economy. In the past, the area was a haven for Caribbean pirates, Havana periodically subjected to attack. This explains the presence of a defensive wall around the city and a large number of locks. On both sides of the entrance to the Cove Morro fortress, built in the early 17 th century, and La Punta, built in the late 16 th century.
