Sights Mount Abu, India

Mount Abu - the only city in Rajasthan, situated on the hills. For centuries, this place is popular as a safe haven to retreat from the heat of Rajasthan and neighboring Gujarat. In 1960, in Mount Abu Sanctuary was established wildlife area which is 290 sq.km.

Mount Abu is home to a number of Jain temples. "Dilvara" (translated from Hindi - "The Comforter of hearts") - a complex of temples, carved of white marble. Temples were built between the XI and XIII centuries AD.

The oldest of them - the temple of Vimal Vasahi, built in 1031 AD Shah Vimalom and dedicated the first of the Jain Tirthankaras.

Lung Vasahi Temples were built in 1231 AD and brothers Vastupal Teypalom belonging to Jain community "rupture". They were ministers of Raja Vir Dhawal, a local ruler of Gujarat.

In the vicinity of the city is located Achalgarh fort, built in the fourteenth century by Rana Kumbha of Mewar, stands nearby. It is famous temple of Lord Shiva, paintings, illustrating the presentation of the Jains, and wonderful surroundings. To him fit several beautiful Jain temples, including the temples Achaleshvar Mahadev (1412) and Kantinath (1513).

Nakki Lake - another popular attraction of Mount Abu. Curious rock in the form of frogs sitting on a hill near the lake. In the hills near the lake are Raghumath temple and the palace of the Maharajah of Jaipur.

On the mountain is also home to several Hindu temples. Known temple on top of the peak Guru Shikhar.
