Description Zelenogradsk, Russia

Zelenogradsk retained the charm of those days when East Prussia, it was called "Crown" resort. However, during Russia's transition to a market economy for a long time the city was not being pursued. And only a few years ago, the authorities finally drew the same attention to Zelenogradsk as a promising resort.

Zelenogradsk located on the shores of the Baltic Sea, off the southern base of the Curonian Spit, a narrow strip of land with unique nature and topography of sand dunes, overgrown with bushes and pine trees. Curonian Spit divides the Baltic Sea and freshwater Curonian Lagoon.
Zelenogradsk (until 1946 Grants, or the Crantz) is located in the Kaliningrad region. Climate and the resort center. Founded in 1252.
At the beginning of XIX century, the famous physician Friedrich Kessel came to the conclusion that the fresh air, sea water, sun and mud baths can bring more benefits to patients than the bloodletting and the reception of bitter medicine. Such a simple and natural, for the present view, the withdrawal gave an enormous impetus to the growth of resorts throughout Europe. This process does not bypass the coastal village Krantz and Rauschen (Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk), which already at that time were the cities of summer vacation for Koenigsbergers. This city is like the opposite of Svetlogorsk. Very quiet, slightly stretched along the beach, not on a steep bank, as Svetlogorsk, but on the plain, with convenient access to the sea, open, and therefore more solar.
