Moderate. Summer temperatures rarely rise above 22 C (in mountain areas up to 17 C). Winter most of the country's temperature never drops below -16 C, only in the north are frequent frosts below -22 C. Annual precipitation of 500-700 mm. year on the plains up to 1500-2000 mm. on the western slopes of the mountains. Moist marine air masses from the north Atlantic and the Baltic Sea is often enough to bring changeable weather with rain and winds, especially in the offseason.
