Chile Political system

Republic of 13 regions. Head of State - President (elected by universal suffrage for a 6-year term). Legislature - bicameral National Congress. Consists of the Senate (48 seats - 38 elected by popular vote on an 8-year period, every four years, held elections for half of the deputies, 10 senators appointed by the president for life) and the Chamber of Deputies (120 seats - members are elected by universal suffrage for 4-year term).
