Sights Marienbad, Czech Republic

An integral part of cultural life in Marienbad is the Municipal Theater, which dates back as early as 1820, when the city held its first submission, then in a wooden building.

Classic stone building was built in 1868, immediately after the proclamation of the town of Marianske Lazne. The theater was opened in the evening on Aug. 17, 1868, in anticipation of the birth of Emperor Franz Josef I. At that time the theater was very modern and it has excellent acoustics.

In 1952 the theater was renamed the Theater NV Gogol during the celebration of Russian literature. Theater NV Gogol, which today are classical and contemporary plays, presented by various theater groups, is a jewel of Marianske Lazne.

In the 19th century in Marianske Lazne came people of different faiths, so there was a need to build churches of different denominations.

The Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which stands in the middle area of Goethe, refers to the outstanding cultural heritage sites. Its distinguishing feature are the 33 steps leading to the main entrance represent the 33 years the life of Jesus Christ.

Interestingly the Evangelic church, the organ which in 1823 played the Albert Schweitzer. This concert has become a significant cultural event in the history of the city.

More than a hundred years, the city is decorated with the Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir, which was built primarily for patients who came to the city from Russia. Its luxurious interior and the unusual architecture leads to the temple a large number of excursions.

Guests, who arrived from England, initiated the construction of the Anglican Church. This temple is regularly visited by English King Edward VII.

In Marienbad, there was also a synagogue by the local Jewish community and Jewish visitors to the resort was officially opened by August 1, 1884. However, during the infamous Kristallnacht of 9 to 10 November 1938 the synagogue was burned and destroyed.

If you are interested in the identity of the famous Polish composer Frederick Chopin, then visit the "House of Chopin", where a display devoted to his arrival at Marianske Lazne.

Cultural Center "Casino" is the place to regularly attend numerous cultural events. This tradition dates back to the days when a casino welcomed distinguished guests. In 1904, this gave a concert opera singer Emma Destinnová performed was a huge success. In 1946 it was held at the Casino 1st International Film Festival in the former Czechoslovakia.

Each year the spa life is music Chopin Festival. Various cultural events are also held in some spas, such as the hotel star-Skalnik or in the spa hotel Nové Lázně.
