Slovenia Transport

There exist two perpendicular to each other highways: "Slovenika" - from the border with Austria and Hungary in the north-east to the border with Italy in the south-west, and "Illyricum" - from the Austrian border in the north-west to the border with Croatia on south-east. Ljubljana is connected with a crane (the north-west direction), Kozin (to the sea coast), from Zagreb (and further to Invanchny-Gorica). Network access roads are well developed, but many of them are often missing road signs.

Speed on the highway is limited to 130 km / h on other roads - 90 km / h in towns - 50 km / h. Payment of fees on highways and for passage through a tunnel Karavanke (about 5 euros), connecting the northern areas of Austria, is a traveler's employees (not automatic). On the main highways of the police strictly followed the procedure. Driving style is aggressive enough local residents, road accidents are not uncommon. Ljubljana is served by two dozen bus lines. Buses operate major routes from 3.00 to 24.00, the rest - from 5.00 to 22.30.

Fare does not depend on the distance and is 300 SIT (1,3 euros), but if you pay a medal, it is only 190 SIT. Ticket for the whole day is 900 SIT for a week - 3400 SIT.

Special Ljubljana Card tourist card is valid for three days (72 hours) and gives free travel on buses, or a Discount free entrance to museums and attractions, discounts on tours, restaurants, shops, hotels and others. Worth card 3000 SIT.

Slovenia - a small country, most of the traffic carried by road and rail. Domestic airlines do not.

Buses in Slovenia go as often as the train, and cost about the same. Directions from Ljubljana to Maribor (2,5-3 hours) costs about 2500 SIT (about 11 euros). Tickets can be bought for one day or pay for a trip directly on the bus. At the end of the week is better to book tickets in advance.
