In accordance with the Constitution of Argentina, the country established a republican form of government and representative political system, at a moderate role of the federal government (about the same as in the United States, which largely served as a model for Argentina). However, unlike the U.S., in Argentina, the province did not participate in the adoption of amendments to the constitution. Moreover, the Constitution permits the federal government intervention in the affairs of the provinces to prevent violations of the republican form of government, as a result of this chapter provinces often serve as simple guides the policy of the president.
