Romania Transport

Romania Intercity buses are mostly quite old. Price of travel is slightly higher than the train. Tickets purchased at the box office or bus station (along the route) from the driver.

Roads and driving rules
Road traffic right-hand. The maximum speed in towns and villages reduced to 50 km / h, outside the city - 90 km / h and 120 km / h - on motorways (highways only 113 km.). Owners of vehicles should always carry a driver's license of international standard, documents for the car (lease) and "green card". The permissible level of alcohol in the blood - 0 ppm. Seat belts are compulsory for all who are in the cabin.

All roads are marked according to international standards, but are in pretty bad condition. Even the main streets in Bucharest, crossed by tramway, poorly lit and have worn road. In the province of the road is even worse - many roads simply divided agricultural machinery and is almost restored. Even where road works are, they almost never marked, and often road equipment is on the canvas for weeks without movement and without it no light signals. Romanian drivers are quite aggressive on the road.

In large and medium cities public transport fairly well organized, but often crowded (usually runs from 5.00 to 23.00). Tickets are sold in specialized or tobacconists and should be punched after planting. In Bucharest transport rather modern and inexpensive. Buses, trolleybuses and trams are generally overcrowded, but cheap (tickets, valid for one trip, there are about 6 thousand lei and purchased before boarding at the kiosk, and then punched in the cabin). Often the routes operate controllers. Traveling by express bus requires the purchase of a special magnetic card kiosks RATB.

Metro
Magnetic cards for subway (Bucharest, three lines) are sold in kiosks at the entrance (12 thousand lei to 2 trips). Metro operates from 5.00 to 23.30 with an average interval between trains of 5-8 minutes. The names of the stations are not always clearly visible, as is usually written on a separate plate in a frame and placed in a rather inconvenient places.

Taxis
The most versatile and cheapest form of transport all over the country - a taxi. Payment is made on the counter and is about 6,5 thousand lei per kilometer. Taxi drivers usually speak only in Romanian, and telephone operators speak in English. If the counter is not, it is best to agree on payment in advance. In all the cities of Romania taxis can be ordered by phone or to find the parking lot of airports, bus terminals, stations, stops, etc. Public taxis can be identified by checkered on one side. Private taxis are marked with the letters P and PQ on the roof. They are working without a meter, more expensive, but they are easier to catch. It is not recommended to sit in cars owned by private carriers. In this environment, there are frequent instances of outright fraud.
