Qatar Traditional cuisine

Qatar This Qatari cuisine is practically unknown to foreign tourists. For centuries, local residents living in the hard deficit of food resources, have developed a very ascetic recipes of cooking. Almost all the dishes were created on the basis of all three components - in all kinds of dates, camel milk and butter from the same. Meat has always been in short supply, so in our days, these dishes can taste only in Bedouin tents in the desert. All restaurants and cafes practice cooking more "European" foods and recipes brought from a "rich" in the culinary traditions of the Arab countries - the traditional "hummus", "shish-kebab", "Tikka", "mutabbal, roasted skewered meat or fish (despite the "sea" arrangement of the country, the fish in the diet Qataris brought relatively weak). Everywhere there are Indian and Pakistani restaurants and cafes with appropriate kitchen.

The traditional drink is fruit juice and coffee. Coffee is usually brewed "in the Bedouin" - is very weak and with a lot of sugar, but all the more prevalent and traditional Arabic coffee - brewed strong, without sugar, but with the addition of cardamom, crushed seeds of dates, etc. Alcohol is practically not used. Although it is limited to selling only licenses (available in large hotels and expensive restaurants), Qataris themselves alcoholic beverages consumed very little.
